Holiday House 2012: Charlotte Moss

One of the many highlights of my year is when Holiday House NYC with Traditional Home Magazine opens it's doors. Not only is it an event filled with design inspiration and enthusiasm, but it is an event with great meaning as well.

This year and in honor of the recent passing of Evelyn Lauder, Iris Dankner, founder & event chair of Holiday House, brings the attention to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation as the beneficiary of this year's event. Now in it's fifth season, Holiday House welcomes Christopher Hyland, of Hyland Magazine as Chairman and Sara Gore as Vice Chairman, as well as a long list of acclaimed and talented interior designers.

I was able to visit each room, and speak with many of these designers, and hope to share many of them, beginning today with the Charlotte Moss, in her room entitled "Everyday is a Holiday", keeping with the Holiday theme each designer was to choose.

Such as you would hope to find, a mood board laden with images, cuttings, souvenirs, fill the wall above the secretaire, such as Charlotte shares in her new book *A Visual Life* and on her blog C'est Inspiré, "what is inspiring".

A visual library that makes you dream, and sets the mood for the who lives here.. her wants, and spirit. These trinkets and objet d'art are what fill the shelves, and are little surprises throughout the room.

It's fresh and feminine, without being overly "cute" or childish.
The mixtures in textures and patterns, classical and contemporary, solid and floral, are part of the skilled layering that make Charlotte Moss great at what she does!

ShangriLa Sisal Charlotte Moss for Stark Carpet acts as a wonderful solid base, for an antique rug, with hints of sparkle and modernity in the corner, mimicking this organic shape, in the Bangle Lamp by Currey & Co.

Among the many details and surprises, the Isabel and Charlotte fabrics from the Fabricut designed collection also make an appearance, as well as books from J.K. Rowling to one of my favorites, Encyclopedia of the Exquisite.

Details from the Desk

Mondrian mirror by Lorin Marsh, with a highlight of the Soicher Marin - Conde Nast Archive Collection on the mantel, which was launched with Charlotte Moss at High Point Market last week.

Many of the pieces of furniture are from Charlotte's own collection, as well as piece from Century Furniture for which she has designed several pieces. The Atlanta Canopy Bed used here as a main feature, and shown with customized fabric and trims, reiterating how each piece can be transformed with the help of a designer to make each item your very own.
