Hearst Magazines launches The 6th Annual 'Designer Visions' Showcase in the new Elad Group Tribeca condos of 250 West Street. A brand-new 111-unit Manhattan building, which I was so lucky to get to visit before the opening and share with you all the 3 formidable apartments designed by interior design greats Matthew Patrick Smyth for Elle Decor, Antony Todd for Veranda and today's feature, David Rockwell for House Beautiful.
I have written several posts on David Rockwell, founder of the Rockwell Group on the blog before with the latest being his design of the Bel Air hotel Bar & Restaurant here, but this time the team takes on a residential project with details from New York to Amsterdam and everywhere in between.
The stage for this young up and coming couple, succeeding in the international art market was set with Danish furniture, antiques and an eclectic mix of textures and styles unified in earthly tones and natural elements.
The 'pièce de résistance' that began the story was the amazing antique Turkish area rug via Nazmiyal Antique Rugs, that set the tone for the rest of the colors and fabric choices..
... from Fortuny accent pillows and small accent tables in varying metal finishes, the combinations of these neutrals are luxurious and inviting.

The use of the two large Baker Furniture 'Frazier' etageres and surround drapery, act as a backdrop while helping frame and center the Living Room area by the use of two layers: one sheer and the other in a fine linen: 'Droplets' from the David Rockwell for Jim Thompson "Spotlight" collection.
A comfortable and asymmetrical layout, Rockwell includes a small desk/dining for two antique table off center against the windows and anchors the room through the combination of the antique rug medallion and great ceiling fixture from the Mid Century antique dealers Wyeth Home.
This open space, with kitchen and living areas combined is comfortable and yet distinctly seperated

as it showcases a mix of traditional and contemporary, with handmade art as functional kitchen utensils and stunning handmade terracotta tile wall with the "Lattice Dot Field" by Neisha Crossland for Ann Sacks against the sleek modern kitchen "Teak Quartz" design cabinets by Poggenpohl and intelligent and sophisticated Jenn-Air appliances. A dream kitchen space, for those that love to entertain!
As we move down the hall towards the bedrooms, my absolute favorite space of this apartment was the Home Office.
One wall covered in natural cork tiles, is a very sophisticated way of incorporating the traditional mood board wall we all love to have at home.. with every minute detail of this couple shared in the most intimate pictures, sketches and notes...
It was very easy to image the type of couple that worked and daydreamed in this space, as a private haven for all their treasures and objects without reason or care but simply because they fell in love with them on their many travels...

which gives way to the darker and moodier Master Bedroom, with Jim Thompson 'Byzance' wallcovering, in silver and black, and and antique headboard has been reinterpreted which ikat inspired print by Madeline Weinrib.
The custom white linen California Closets are filled with Mr Porter & Milly goodies and designer clothes, while the Master Bath stays warm with textured wall coverings against the sleek modern tiles and stone floors.
Ending in the room where many would want to linger - the Home Theater - with charcoal grey Maya Romanoff covered walls, and deep plum and sapphire blue tones in the wall colors and fabrics, with Jim Thompson velvet drapery and Elitis covered sectional.
The vintage Moroccan rug by Madeline Weinrib in deep red tones brings out the hint of red in the Danish circa 1930's media unit and shelving system by Mogens Koch and Uhuru Design.
David Rockwell and the team of designers for this House Beautiful - Designer Visions apartment showcase, have transported us across the globe through each and every layer in these rooms. There was so much to see and share, that I couldn't help but post all of these images!
Tomorrow, I will continue with my preview look at the other apartments - so stay tuned.
*all of the images are my own. feel free to share them, but make sure to credit this blog. thank you
