One of the most wonderful parts of taking part in the Ronald McDonald Showhouse, for me professionally, was having the opportunity to meet and truly get to know first hand some incredible fellow designers that I have grown to respect and admire for the level of professionalism and truly being examples of women who can "do it all"!
Some of these women took part, nearly simultaneously, in the “Home Is Where The Heart Is” showhouse which is open until December 1st and is a must see event!
So having the opportunity to visit this event, and share it all with you was a must. For the visitors, it was truly an opportunity to get a greater knowledge of the wide range that we as designers are capable of.. by visiting two very distinct showhouses, and in this case, some of the same designers involved, to truly understand what and how each one approaches their craft.
So I thought it would be nice to showcase some of the designers and their work from both of these events so that you could all appreciate their work as well.
This welcoming Master Suite, with warm colors had one special detail I thought was quite exciting as any girl, we all love a little sparkle..
and Kim here added sparkle to the ceiling beyond the reach of the light fixture to add in depth and scale of the crystals from the chandelier itself ..
An en-suite walk in closet and private living area are truly a dream layout for any owner.
For her work at the Ronald McDonald Showhouse Kim for the Media Room, added layers of texture once again paying special attention to the ceilings but with a textured wallcovering that was quite successful in adding much needed warmth.
Maintaining a neutral color palette in both schemes, I think it is safe to say that they are still quite different in the final result.
Another designer that made a huge impact in both showhouses, Suzanne Costa, and that I have enjoyed getting to know as another example of a great woman and professional.
For her work at the RMH, Suzaane incorporated woods paneling through the oversized headboard wall which was a very creative way to resolve the large vaulted ceiling and maintaining the warmth and comfort in this bedroom.
The tree that fell on her property during Hurricane Sandy, was resurrected here ~ becoming a feature in this bedroom at the house for many families to enjoy.
While in the "Home is Where the Heart Is" showhouse, Suzanne took on the grand staircase and hallway landing in a beautiful collaboration with Aerin Lauder including a wide range of items from many of her new collections of Fabrics, Furniture, Lighting and Accessories.
Open till DECEMBER 1st ~ “Home Is Where The Heart Is”, in its inaugural year, is a showcase for America’s premier design talent. Approximately 25 top interior designers and landscape designers from the New York Metropolitan Area have turned a spectacular, classic Colonial Revival estate into a decorating masterpiece. Built in the late 19th Century as a wedding present for Standard Oil heiress Lydia Pratt, this nearly 7,000 square foot estate is located at 145 Dosoris Lane in Glen Cove, NY and has been provided by MIGC, LLC.
